100 Films in 2011: Mars

February 17, 2011 by Ray Seggern Leave a Comment

Went to see an Austin Film Society screening of locally produced animated film Mars at the Alamo Village last night with my bud Nick.  I was unable to see the film at SXSW last year but heard great things about it.  It’s always a lot of fun to see people you know and love in locally made films. That is even true if you are just seeing an animated likeness of them (actually, it’s “especially” true).

Two of the films three leads, Mark Duplass and Paul Gordon, have been on my Chillville radio show for other films they made. I also loved seeing Jerm Pollet and Kathy Rose Center, two awesome actors who graced my little 2007 short film with their presence.

Mars has a unique animation style that feels like equal parts Sin City and Waking Life. Catch it when it opens at the Alamo Ritz on March 7, 8, and 9.
